The poor mailman probably thought I was a crazy woman.
When I heard the doorbell ring, I knew it had to be Elliot.
I snatched the box right out of Mr. Mailman's hands and
headed to the kitchen to open it up. hehe
Elliot is doing fine and has settled in after his trip from California.
It is raining today, so we are staying in so we don't get wet.
We're both looking forward to meeting up with Nancze this week!
If you haven't seen Darylynn's special site for Elliot, go check it out here.

Well, Elliot and I had an enjoyable day around town yesterday.
I had to go by Wal-Mart to pick up some lawnmower supplies,
so Elliot rode along with me. I don't think he had ever been to Wal-Mart.
It's not much of a tourist site, but everyone likes to go there.
After Wal-Mart we ventured over to Michael's craft store.
While I was browsing around, I found the cutest little sunvisor for Elliot.
I ended up getting the lavender one thinking the pink one would be
a bit girlish for a little boy mouse. In any case, he seemed to really like it.
When we arrived home he spent a few minutes sunbathing out on the patio.
When Justin came in from school, Elliot and I coerced him into going with us
out to Tinker Air Force Base. Elliot wanted to see the planes.
We were very disappointed to find out that the airplane display was closed
for renovations, but we were able to get Elliot close enough to one
of the jet fighters. The sign said "no climbing," so we hurriedly snuck Elliot
onto a wing and snapped a picture. Whew! That was close!
(Justin was stating how silly he thought the whole thing was,
but he sure was enjoying himself. lol)

Well, Elliot and I spent a wonderful day out and about yesterday.
We started at Crossroads Mall to snap a picture in front of an oil well.
You know you're in Oklahoma when you start seeing oil wells.
We drove out by the Oklahoma City Zoo. There were so many
school kids out there, I really couldn't get anywhere near the front
gate to take a good picture with Elliot. We did visit the park
across the lake from the zoo. The National Softball Hall of Fame
is out that direction, as well as the Oklahoma Firefighters' Museum.
The Museum has an awesome memorial with a beautiful water feature.
I can't wait to go back and visit it again. It was such a gorgeous day
outside that it was a pleasure to be out enjoying the fresh air.
From there, we drove by the mall to meet up with David for some lunch.
He couldn't get away from work, so we journeyed on to Will Roger's Park.
It is a beautiful park known for it's roses. Of course it's not time for
the roses to bloom, but there were plenty of other spring blooms
going on, like Azaelas and Tulips. There's a lake complete with
ducks and fountains, lots of little bridges and paths. After our walk
through the park, I was ready to head home.
Elliot's first Wal-Mart visit.

Evening
Justin, Elliot and I ventured down to Bricktown (in downtown Oklahoma City) after school as a reward for Justin's good report card. We showed Elliot the new Bricktown Ballpark and took a picture with the Mickey Mantle statue. We were hoping to ride on one of the water taxis on the canal, but they weren't running.

Today we finally met up with my sweet friend, Nancze. Elliot and I headed down I-35 to Norman. Nancze was patiently waiting for us n the parking lot of IHOP. Seems she had been to the bookstore and was busy reading. What a blessing it was to finally get to meet her in person! We decided to go
"Elliot adventuring" in my truck, and I proceeded to go the wrong way down a one-way street.
Hey, it wasn't a one-way until it got up to IHOP, so I didn't even notice until it was too late!
Thankfully the car we met up with gave me time to back up (nice Okies) and get out of the way.
We laughed at what they were probably thinking. Nancze stuck with me, bless her heart, I might have
got out of the truck if I had been her. lol We managed okay after that except for getting
stuck in a traffic jam on the interstate. Nancze and I were very busy talking, so it really didn't matter. After a while Nancze asked where Elliot was. He had been sitting between us the entire time. lol
We went to the Cowboy Hall of Fame first. I found myself climbing up on some rocks with
Elliot to get a good picture in front of a mural. Then Nancze posed with Elliot in front of a cowboy statue. It was necessary, as Elliot's cowboy hat kept blowing away. lol We then ventured to downtown Oklahoma City to visit the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. The Memorial is a beautiful place, but it was absolutely gorgeous today with all the flowers and trees in full bloom. One thing we both noticed is how respectful people are of the place, how quiet people are as they walk through.
Nancze took a couple of pictures of Elliot, then she asked another visitor to take a picture of us all together. We were in front of the survivor tree. It is the tree that survived the blast that was right across
the street from the Murrah building.
I have to say, I don't remember too much quiet time between Nancze and I the whole time we were together. We had plenty to talk about and enjoyed every minute. Nancze will be downloading and sending the pictures to Darylynn soon, so be looking for them at Elliot's Excellent Adventures.

Elliot is Tennesse bound! That's right!
I shipped Elliot off first thing this morning to
I really hated to see the little fella go.
He gave me quite a mini vacation last week.
To top it all off he brought Nancze and I together.
I'm anxious to see where his next adventures take him.
Have fun Elliot and Betty Jo!

What Elliot Learned About Oklahomans....
1. Oklahomans can properly pronounce Eufaula, Gotebo, Okemah, and Chickasha.
2. They think that people who complain about the wind in their states are sissies.
3. A tornado warning siren is their signal to go out in the yard and look for a funnel.
4. Their idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor on the highway.
5. They've been known to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.
6. Oklahomans know that the true value of a parking space is not determined by the distance to the door,
but by the availability of shade.
7. Stores don't have bags, they have sacks.
8. You might see an Okie wear bib overalls to a funeral.
9. Oklahomans think everyone from a bigger city has an accent.
10. They measure distance in minutes.
11. They refer to the capital of Oklahoma as "The City."
12. It doesn't bother them to use an airport named for a man
who died in an airplane crash.
13. Little smokies are something they serve only for special occasions.
14. They go to the lake because they think it is like going to the ocean.
15. Okies listen to the weather forecast before picking out an outfit.
16. They know cowpies are not made of beef.
17. Most Oklahomans have used a football schedule to plan their wedding date.
18. They know someone who has a belt buckle bigger than a fist.
19. A bad traffic jam involves two cars staring each other down at a four-way stop,
each determined to be the most polite and let the other go first.
20. Oklahomans know in which state MIam-uh is and in which state Miam-ee is.
21. They aren't surprised to find movie rental, ammunition, and bait all in the same store.
22. Their "place at the lake" has wheels under it.
23. A Mercedes Benz is not a status symbol. A Ford F350 4x4 is.
24. They know everything goes better with Ranch.
25. Oklahomans actually get these jokes and tell them to their friends.
Finally, you are 100% Oklahoman if you have ever heard this conversation:
"You wanna coke? "
"Yeah."
"What kind?"
"Dr. Pepper."
